Title 22 § 22.30.230.H limits home occupation signage to a single non-illuminated identification sign with a maximum area of two square feet; a commercial vehicle parked on or adjacent to the site that displays the business name counts toward this maximum.
The County's Sign Ordinance update (codified amendment to Title 22 § 22.30.230.H) restricts home occupation signs to one non-illuminated identification sign no larger than two square feet, subject to the general Sign Standards in Chapter 22.20. Importantly, a commercial vehicle parked on or adjacent to the residential site that displays the home occupation name and is visible from the public street is counted in determining the maximum allowable area of on-site fixed signs. Title 22 § 22.20.030.A.11.16 also exempts from permit approval 'residential identification signs' on individual residences and home occupations - including names of occupants and home occupations - 'limited to a total aggregate area of two square feet.' Internally illuminated or freestanding pole signs are not allowed for home occupations.
Signs exceeding two square feet, illuminated signs, or vehicle signs that push total signage past the cap are subject to enforcement under Chapter 22.20 and Title 22 abatement procedures.
