8(E) of the Onslow County Code of Ordinances sets the home occupation standards for the unincorporated county, covering any occupation, profession, or business activity a resident owns or engages in from a single-family dwelling; the ordinance specifically excludes remote employees working for someone else's business from the definition. A Home Occupation permit is required whenever the business owner operates out of the residence, and the application must include a floor plan showing both the home's total heated square footage and the portion devoted to the business, plus written consent from the property owner if the applicant is not the owner.
