Under Section 6:2(13) of the Greenville County Zoning Ordinance, occupations, professions, or trades customarily carried on by occupants of dwellings are allowed as accessory uses where dwellings are permitted, subject to conditions: the work must be within the principal structure; no more than 25% of the floor area may be used; no more than one non-family, non-resident employee; no on-site retail sale of off-premises merchandise (except related products like beauty products); no merchandise visible from the street; no outdoor storage; no alteration of the residential character; and it must not be a nuisance. Home occupations are a conditional use (C13) in residential districts.
Zoning violations are enforced by Greenville County code enforcement; the Board of Zoning Appeals reviews and may authorize other home occupations under Article 3.
