Fair Lawn's Property Maintenance Code requires owners to keep lawns mowed and free of overgrown vegetation that creates health or fire hazards on residential and commercial parcels.
Under Chapter 170 (Property Maintenance), the Borough's Code Enforcement Officer or Health Officer may cite properties where grass and weeds are allowed to grow excessively. Owners receive written notice and time to abate. If not corrected, the Borough may mow and bill the cost to the owner as a lien on the property. Tall grass on vacant lots and rental homes is enforced equally.
Notice to abate, Borough mowing at owner's expense, fines via municipal court, recurring inspections.
