Fair Lawn requires owners to remove brush, weeds, and noxious vegetation that pose health, fire, or vermin-harborage hazards under the Borough's Property Maintenance Code.
Chapter 170 directs property owners to keep parcels free of weeds, dead vegetation, and overgrowth that could harbor rodents or create unsanitary conditions. The Health Officer or Code Enforcement Officer issues notice to abate. If the owner fails to comply, the Borough may enter the property, remove the vegetation, and assess costs as a municipal lien. Both occupied and vacant properties are subject to enforcement.
Abatement notice, municipal cleanup billed to owner, fines, liens recorded against the property.
