Garfield prohibits noxious weeds and requires premises to remain free of weed growth taller than eight inches under its Property Maintenance Code.
The Garfield Property Maintenance Code defines weeds as all grasses, annual plants, and vegetation other than trees or shrubs, expressly excluding cultivated flowers and gardens. All premises and exterior property must be free of plant growth in excess of eight inches, and noxious weeds are flatly prohibited regardless of height. Common related complaints include rubbish, litter, overgrown weeds, brush, and shrubbery. Property Maintenance officers can issue violations and order abatement.
