Little Rock, AR Landscaping Rules: Native Plants (2026)

Little Rock's nuisance ordinance bans grass, weeds, or 'any other plant that is not cultivated' from growing past 10 inches or in 'rank profusion' on a lot, tract, parcel, or the abutting sidewalk strip, parkway, or alley (Sec. 20-2(a)(1)). Because the height cap targets only uncultivated growth, a deliberately planted and maintained native-plant garden, wildflower bed, or pollinator planting isn't itself a nuisance violation no matter how tall it grows. That said, the carve-out isn't blanket cover from every complaint: code enforcement can still cite a lot where such plantings look neglected or read as 'rank profusion' rather than a tended landscape.
