Under SMMC Chapter 7.40, the Director supervises planting, trimming, pruning, maintenance, removal, and care of all trees on public property. Permits become void if work is not completed within 30 calendar days. No person may plant or permit vines that interfere with public tree growth. Vegetation on private property must not encroach on or obstruct any portion of the street, alley, or sidewalk. Vegetation must be trimmed to stay 3 feet from overhead power lines.
