Water restrictions in Anaheim, CA β also called the watering schedule, outdoor irrigation rules, or drought ordinance β set which days and hours you can run sprinklers or irrigation.
Anaheim's Landscape Water Efficiency Ordinance (AMC 10.19) requires water-efficient irrigation for new landscaping. Automatic timer-controlled systems required. State water restrictions may impose additional limits during drought.
AMC Chapter 10.19 implements the Landscape Water Efficiency Ordinance in response to California AB 1881. All required landscaped areas must have automatic irrigation systems approved by the Planning Director. For planting areas under 2,500 sq ft, adjustable timer-controlled drip irrigation, bubblers, or low-volume sprinklers are encouraged. For areas over 2,500 sq ft, moisture sensors are encouraged. The Maximum Applied Water Allowance uses an ETAF of 0.55 (residential) or 0.45 (non-residential). Anaheim Public Utilities provides water service and may impose watering schedules during drought conditions. California's statewide permanent water restrictions prohibit watering of ornamental grass on commercial properties, hosing driveways, and washing cars with running water. The city offers water conservation rebates and programs.
Exceeding water budget on new landscape: plan revision required. Violating drought restrictions: warning then fine. Irrigation overspray to pavement: water waste citation.
