Section 18-127 puts the duty on owners, agents, custodians, lessees and occupants alike: cut and keep cut, to a height not exceeding 12 inches, all grasses and weeds on property they own, control or occupy. Subsection (b) deems all of them to control the adjoining easements, alleys and rights-of-way for that purpose. The County Manager publishes a reminder notice in a newspaper and on the County website every April and October. The rules apply only in unincorporated Lee County; cities set their own limits.
Violations & Fines
The County Manager sends written notice giving 21 days to abate and 15 days to request a hearing. Vegetation not cut in time is cut by the County at your expense plus a $150 administrative fee.
