Riverside County Code Chapter 12.40 splits electric bicycles by class for sidewalk and trail access in the unincorporated county. Class 1 and 2 e-bikes may ride county sidewalks and trails, but Class 2 riders are barred from business-district sidewalks, bridge sidewalks, pedestrian underpasses and overpasses, and sidewalks next to schools, and neither class may use a sidewalk or trail where a parallel bike path or bikeway exists on the same roadway. Class 3 e-bikes, motor-driven cycles, mopeds and motorized bicycles are banned outright from every county sidewalk and trail unless posted signage specifically permits them, and all classes are barred from equestrian trails and the Wine Country - Equestrian District.
