Evansville, IN Mobility & Curb Rules: Shared E-Scooter Rules (2026)

Evansville Municipal Code § 10.60.040 lists seven places where e-scooters, company-deployed or privately owned, may not be ridden: interstate highways, highways, expressways, sidewalks, alleys, within the boundaries of a special event, and greenways or non-street trails, limiting legal riding to public roadways. Companion sections in the same chapter cap speed at 15 miles per hour, require front and rear lamps visible from 500 feet, and require any deploying company to hold a City Controller license, carry at least $1,000,000 in liability insurance, and pay a fee of up to $1,000 plus $10 per scooter annually. Riders must be at least 16 with valid ID, and the Evansville Police Department enforces rider violations.
