Full Breakdown
The county has no bar- or nightclub-specific noise rule; commercial venues are held to the same one-hour average sound level limits as any other property. In most commercial zones the cap is 60 dBA from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 55 dBA from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., measured at the property line or at the receiving property. Music or amplified sound plainly audible 50 feet from the building is a prima facie violation of the separate disturbing-noise prohibition.
Violations & Fines
Sheriff's Department enforces the general noise prohibition (§36.414); the County noise control officer enforces the sound-level table (§36.404) and can order abatement. Violations are misdemeanors, and an officer may make a warrantless arrest under Penal Code §836.5.
