§ 43-36, 'Supplemental requirements for certain business, commercial and office uses,' devotes Subsection D specifically to cabarets and nightclubs, layering land-use controls on top of the licensing and general noise rules found elsewhere in the Code. Buildings housing such a use cannot sit within 50 feet of a residential use or within 100 feet of a residential district boundary line. Interior areas must be designed and sufficiently sound-insulated to contain noise-generating activity so it does not create a nuisance beyond the property line, meaning the burden of keeping sound in falls on the building's construction, not just operator behavior.

All entertainment activity must happen inside a fully enclosed building; no outdoor dining is permitted alongside it, and there can be no outdoor public address or music system at all, a flat prohibition with no decibel exception. Subsection D(5) separately requires every existing and proposed cabaret or nightclub to hold a valid cabaret license under Chapter 23, Cabarets and Dance Halls, which carries its own $250-per-floor annual license fee and a Director-run fitness and premises inspection. These zoning standards sit alongside, and are stricter than, the citywide commercial-property decibel ceilings in Chapter 66; a nightclub can meet the general dBA table and still be out of compliance with § 43-36D's outdoor-sound and setback rules.
