Yonkers, NY Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

City Code § 109-74A bars parking, leaving, or permitting a vehicle to be parked on any City-owned property, a Yonkers Parking Authority garage or lot, or a public street, intersection, alley, or highway where parking is prohibited or restricted by posted signs, or in front of or partially obstructing a private driveway. Subsection B gives the owner or driver of a disabled vehicle up to three hours to remove it before the vehicle counts as illegally parked. The rest of Article IX layers sign-based restrictions on top of that general rule.

Section 109-81 bans parking at any time on any street where "no parking" signs have been erected. on any day except Sundays and public holidays on streets posted for that restriction, and § 109-83 caps parking at one hour during that same window on streets signed for a time limit. Section 109-78 separately requires that a stopped or parked vehicle leave at least 10 feet of roadway width free for traffic, and bars blocking a lowered curb cut built for handicapped access. Because all of these restrictions depend on posted signage, the enforceable rule on any given block is whatever the sign says, not a citywide default; § 109-74's driveway-obstruction and prohibited-parking language, however, applies everywhere regardless of signage.

Violations across Article IX are parking violations for purposes of § 109-36B, which caps the fine at $50 per ticket unless the City Council raises it by resolution, and the Police Commissioner may have a vehicle towed under Article XIII if it endangers public safety or blocks a driveway.
