Wild and exotic animals banned as pets under NY ECL Β§11-0512. Yonkers Code also prohibits keeping dangerous wild animals in residential areas.
NY Environmental Conservation Law Β§11-0512 prohibits possession of wolves, coyotes, foxes, skunks, raccoons, venomous reptiles, big cats, primates, bears, and other wild species statewide. Pre-existing owners may keep grandfathered animals with DEC permit. Yonkers Code Chapter 15 additionally bars keeping of animals constituting a nuisance or danger. Common pets (dogs, cats, rabbits, non-venomous reptiles, domestic birds) remain permitted.
