St. Peters, MO Noise Ordinances: Aircraft Noise (2026)

Section 210.390(G) lists eleven categories exempt from the provisions above, meaning none of the objective decibel standards in Subsection (F), the itemized prohibited noises in Subsection (C) (which include the construction-hour and curfew rules), or the general nuisance clause in Subsection (B) apply to them. Item 7 of that list reads simply: all noises coming from the normal and legal operations of properly equipped aircraft. The same exemption list separately carves out trains and railroad rolling stock operated in a proper manner (item 9) and authorized emergency vehicles (item 4), showing the Board of Aldermen chose to exempt whole categories of transportation noise rather than set aircraft-specific decibel numbers.

Because the exemption is unconditional on frequency, altitude or time of day, so long as the aircraft is properly equipped and its operation is normal and legal, a resident near the Mid Rivers Mall Drive corridor or Rec-Plex cannot use the City's noise ordinance, Section 210.390, to force an operator to fly quieter or at different hours; that regulatory authority instead sits elsewhere and the City ordinance does not attempt to override or duplicate it.
