Construction hours in Buckeye, AZ — sometimes called construction noise rules or contractor work-hour ordinances — set when contractors can run power tools, hammers, and heavy equipment.
Buckeye's noise ordinance (City Code 10-1-2) does not set a general construction-hours window. The only hour-based limit it contains is on motor-vehicle repair in residential areas, which is unlawful between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Construction noise is otherwise handled under the general 'unreasonable, disturbing, unnecessary noise' standard.
Unlike many Arizona cities, Buckeye City Code section 10-1-2 (Chapter 10) does not codify a fixed start/stop time for general building construction. The enumerated noises in subsection C cover items such as horns and signal devices, exhaust without a muffler, animal noise, and motor-vehicle repair, but there is no dedicated 'construction hours' subsection within the noise chapter. The one hour-based restriction relevant to noisy mechanical work is subsection C(5)(a): 'It shall be unlawful for any person within any residential area of the city to repair, rebuild or test any motor vehicle (1) between the hours of 10:00 p.m. of one day and 7:00 a.m. of the next day or (2) in such a manner that a reasonable person of normal sensitivity residing in the area is caused discomfort or annoyance.' Construction noise that is unreasonably loud, disturbing, or unnecessary can still be cited under the general prohibitions in 10-1-2(A) and (B) at any hour, and continuous amplified or mechanical sound in residential subdivisions is limited to before 10:00 p.m. and after 6:00 a.m. under 10-1-2(C)(2)(a). Builders should confirm any project-specific conditions with Buckeye Development Services, since permit conditions can impose hours not found in the noise code.
No fixed construction-hours fine exists in Chapter 10. Violations of the general noise standard, or of the 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. residential motor-vehicle repair ban, are subject to the civil and criminal penalties in Article 1-7 of the city code.
