Volusia County Council approved extended construction hours in December 2023. Construction in unincorporated areas is now permitted daily from 6 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week including weekends and holidays. Sound amplification systems are limited to Monday through Saturday during daylight hours.
The County Council voted 5-2 in December 2023 to extend construction hours. Previously construction was limited to 7 AM start times with earlier evening cutoffs. The new hours allow 6 AM to 9 PM daily regardless of day. The noise ordinance's decibel limits still apply — 60 dBA is the standard. Sound amplification systems for construction are limited to Monday through Saturday daylight hours only.
