Grand Prairie's noise ordinance (Ord. 11192-2022) establishes Noise Zone 3 for all manufacturing, industrial, or governmental properties per Section 13-282. Maximum permissible sound levels under Section 13-283 for Noise Zone 3 are: 70 dBA Leq daytime (6 AM-10 PM), 65 dBA Leq nighttime (10 PM-6 AM), with maximum sound levels of 90 dBA daytime and 85 dBA nighttime. When noise from an industrial source is measured at a residential property, the more restrictive residential standard applies per Section 13-283(e). Section 13-284 allows the director to require existing or proposed facilities that exceed noise limits to submit a noise abatement study detailing steps to achieve compliance within six months.
