Grand Prairie Code Chapter 29, Article VII (Junk/Inoperable Motor Vehicles) defines inoperable vehicles as those that are wrecked, dismantled, on flat tires, have expired registration, an invalid inspection certificate, or are on jacks. Section 29-136 authorizes disposal of junked vehicles by removal to a scrapyard, demolisher, or suitable site for processing as scrap or salvage. Vehicles that have not been moved for extended periods on public streets may be tagged and towed per Texas Transportation Code Chapter 683. The Grand Prairie Police Department Auto Impound facility handles impounded vehicles. Property owners are required to keep inoperable vehicles screened from public view or remove them.
