Quiet hours in Sarasota County, FL — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
In unincorporated Sarasota County, amplified sound not inside a fully enclosed building may not exceed 65 dBA between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., measured at the property line. This is the county's practical nighttime quiet-hours rule.
Sarasota County Code Ch. 54, Art. V, Sec. 54-118 (Sound control) governs the unincorporated county. It sets a nighttime amplified-sound cap of 65 dBA (10:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.) and a daytime continuous-sound cap of 75 dBA (7:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m.), each measured beyond the generating property's line. Article VI (Sec. 54-153) separately prohibits any device or activity that disturbs the peace, quiet and comfort of neighbors regardless of the hour. Incorporated cities (Sarasota, Venice, North Port, Longboat Key) set their own quiet hours.
