Bristol Borough's excessive noise ordinance (Chapter 10) prohibits the creation of any unnecessary or excessive noise of such character, intensity, or duration as to be detrimental to health, safety, or to disturb public peace and welfare. Specific restrictions include: truck engine idling within 300 feet of residential zones is prohibited between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling, or singing on public streets so as to annoy or disturb persons in hospitals, nursing homes, dwellings, or hotels is prohibited. Excessive noise on streets adjacent to schools, churches, or courts while in session that interferes with their operations is also prohibited. Applications for hardship noise permits may be made to the Borough Manager, who may grant time-limited permits with conditions.
