Lakeville, MN Noise Ordinances: Quiet Hours (2026)

Lakeville does not run a single blanket 'quiet hours' curfew on all sound. Instead, City Code 4-1-4 (Title 4, Health and Sanitation) combines a general nuisance test with a hard nighttime window. The general test, summarized on the City's Common Code Requirements page, makes noise that is audible within 50 feet of its source and that disturbs the peace, quiet, or comfort of nearby residents a violation. Loud music, parties, and large gatherings are the typical triggers. Layered on top of that, a specific list of activities is prohibited between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. regardless of how loud they are: grading and heavy equipment, power tools such as saws, jackhammers, and air compressors, domestic maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers, and the repair or servicing of motor vehicles and recreational vehicles. Snow-removal equipment is the only exemption the City lists.
