Lakeville, MN Noise Ordinances: Leaf Blower Rules (2026)

Lakeville does not ban or heavily restrict leaf blowers the way some larger cities do. Instead, the City folds them into the general nighttime quiet provisions of City Code 4-1-4. The City's Common Code Requirements page specifically lists the use of domestic maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, grass/weed trimmers, or leaf blowers among the activities prohibited between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. That means leaf blowers can be used during the day and evening, but not overnight. The City does not publish a decibel cap, a gas-versus-electric distinction, or a seasonal restriction on leaf blowers. Outside the prohibited overnight window, leaf-blower use is still subject to the broader nuisance standard: noise audible within 50 feet of the source that disturbs the peace and comfort of nearby residents can be treated as a violation, so unusually prolonged or aggressive daytime blowing near a neighbor's home could still draw a complaint. Snow-removal equipment is the only equipment the City exempts from the 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. restriction, so a leaf blower repurposed for yard cleanup gets no such carve-out.
