Quiet hours in Summit County, OH — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
Summit County's countywide Noise Nuisance Code (§509.08) defines "night time" as 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. weekdays and 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. weekends and holidays, when noise limits tighten. It applies in every township, village, and municipality in the county.
Unlike most Ohio counties, charter Summit County adopted a countywide noise ordinance (§509.08, Ord. 2005-558). "Night time" runs 9 p.m.–7 a.m. weekdays and 9 p.m.–9 a.m. weekends and holidays. The code recommends maximum levels of 65 dBA daytime / 55 dBA nighttime in residential areas (67/62 non-residential). No loud, unreasonable sound may create a nuisance disturbing a reasonable person of normal sensitivity. Enforcement is by the local political subdivision's law-enforcement officer. Individual cities and villages may set their own, often stricter, quiet hours; §509.08 sets a countywide floor that applies where local rules are silent.
First offense: warning and request to desist. Persisting is a minor misdemeanor; subsequent violations are 4th-degree misdemeanors with fines up to $250. Each day is a separate offense.
