Tarpon Springs Code Chapter 12, Article I prohibits loud and raucous noise that disturbs comfort, health, peace, or safety of residents, with stricter expectations during overnight hours. Violations are enforced by the Police Department.
Under Chapter 12 (Offenses-Miscellaneous), Article I, the city prohibits making, continuing, or causing any loud and raucous noise that annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of others. Although the ordinance applies at all times, complaints during nighttime hours (typically 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) are weighted more strictly. Sound from parades, permitted special events, school athletic facilities, fire and burglar alarms, locomotives, and aircraft is exempted. Tarpon Springs Police respond to complaints and may issue warnings or citations. Repeat or egregious violations may be referred to the Code Enforcement Board.
First-offense warnings are common; cited violations carry fines through Code Enforcement, escalating with repeat occurrences and potential misdemeanor charges for serious disturbances.
