Full Breakdown

Under the city's noise-nuisance code, running an automobile, motorcycle, or other vehicle so out of repair, overloaded, or otherwise operated as to create loud, grating, grinding, jarring, or rattling noise or vibrations is a violation. Separately, discharging exhaust from any motor vehicle, steam engine, or stationary internal combustion engine into the open air without a muffler or equivalent device that effectively prevents loud or explosive noise is also barred. Excessive horn use beyond a genuine warning signal is prohibited too.

Violations & Fines

Misdemeanor under the general penalty section; fines run up to $2,000 for Chapter 50 health-and-sanitation violations, with each day of continued violation a separate offense.
