Revere, MA Noise Ordinances: Vehicle Noise (2026)

1 prohibits sounding any horn or signaling device on an automobile, motorcycle or other vehicle on a street or public place other than as a danger warning; it further bans creating an unreasonably loud or harsh sound with a signaling device, sounding one for an unnecessary and unreasonable period, using any signaling device other than one operated by hand or electricity, using a horn or whistle operated by engine exhaust, and sounding a device merely because traffic is held up. 3, which lists it among the acts exempt from the general unreasonable-noise provision.

4, Vehicle or Motorboat Repairs and Testing, separately prohibits repairing, rebuilding, modifying or testing a motor vehicle, motorcycle or motorboat in a manner plainly audible from the lot line of the lot where the activity occurs. c. 060. D, so they carry no time-of-day exception and apply around the clock. c. 40, Section 21D, a misdemeanor complaint carrying a $300 fine on conviction, and, for repeat offenders, a court injunction against the source of the noise.
