Walton County Code § 22-54(g) folds grill rules into the chapter governing fires and fireworks on the beach south of Highway 20 (Sec. 22-53). The Code draws a hard line between fuel types: it is unlawful and a chapter violation to use a charcoal grill anywhere on the beach, full stop, no permit cures that. Propane is treated differently but still capped tightly: a propane gas grill may be used only if its cylinder holds no more than 1 pound of gas and its cooking surface is under 225 square inches, which rules out full-size patio or tailgate-style propane grills.

This provision sits inside the same subsection that separately regulates propane fire pits (20-pound max bottle, 5-foot minimum regulator hose, 3-foot diameter cap, UL or CSA listed container), so a beachgoer bringing propane equipment needs to know which apparatus, grill or fire pit, they are operating and which limit applies. The Code does not extend this specific grill-size rule to condominium balconies or multifamily common areas; those placement questions fall instead under whatever fire code and building department rules the Walton County fire prevention chapter and any adopted Florida Fire Prevention Code provisions impose on balconies, which is a separate inquiry from the beach-use rule quoted here.

Enforcement of Chapter 22 rests with the Sheriff's Office and the County Code Compliance Department under Sec. 22-54(g)(6)/22-62. 00 under Sec. 22-62(a), with each day of a continuing violation counted as a separate offense. A person cited can pay the scheduled fine plus administrative costs to the Clerk of Court within 30 days, or contest it before the County's Code Compliance Special Magistrate.
