Anne Arundel County outdoor lighting standards in Article 18-11-107 require all new exterior lighting to use full cut-off (fully shielded) fixtures directing light downward. Maximum illumination at property line: 0.5 foot-candles residential. Parking lot lighting: pole height capped at 30-35 ft depending on zone. LED fixtures required to be 3000K or lower for new installations. Critical Area properties have additional wildlife-friendly lighting requirements to protect Chesapeake Bay habitat. Annapolis Historic District requires gas-lamp style or period-appropriate fixtures reviewed by HDC. Commercial sign illumination subject to Article 17 sign code.
Non-compliant fixture: notice with 30-day cure, then $100-$500. Commercial violation: $500-$2,500 and permit review.
