Baltimore County, MD Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Maryland Transportation Article Section 25-201 defines an abandoned vehicle to include one that is inoperable and left unattended on public property for more than 48 hours, or that has remained on private property for more than 48 hours without the owner's consent. Baltimore County police and code enforcement use this authority to tag and remove abandoned vehicles. Separately, BCZR Section 428 prohibits outdoor storage of inoperable and unregistered motor vehicles on residential lots, and general nuisance conditions on private property are prohibited under Baltimore County Code Section 13-7-112. Residents report abandoned vehicles to the county's non-emergency reporting service.
