Tarpon Springs Zoning Code Section 40.00 requires all vehicles in the city to display a current tag and be operable, or otherwise be stored inside an enclosed structure. Car covers do not qualify as enclosure.
Section 40.00 of the Tarpon Springs Comprehensive Zoning Code provides that all vehicles within city limits must have a current registration tag and be operable, including inflated tires. Inoperable, unregistered, or wrecked vehicles must be stored inside a fully enclosed structure such as a garage. Car covers, tarps, or carports do not satisfy the enclosure requirement. Section 12-20 of Chapter 12 (Offenses) further addresses dismantled vehicles unfit for use. Abandoned vehicles on public rights-of-way may be tagged and towed by Tarpon Springs Police after notice, with fees charged to the owner.
Code Enforcement issues notices of violation requiring removal or enclosure within a stated period. Failure to comply results in towing and daily fines through the Code Enforcement Board.
