Bellevue restricts on-street commercial vehicle parking over 10,000 pounds to 1 hour in residential zones and limits storage of work vehicles in front yards under LUC 20.20.
On-street commercial vehicle parking in Bellevue is regulated by BCC 11.23 and state motor vehicle law. Trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating over 10,000 pounds, semi-tractors, trailers, and similar commercial vehicles are generally limited to 1 hour of on-street parking in residential zones between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., except for active loading, unloading, or service work at a specific address. Overnight storage of commercial vehicles on public streets in residential neighborhoods is prohibited and subject to towing under RCW 46.55. On private residential property, storing commercial vehicles in front yards is limited; one work vehicle used by a resident may generally be parked in the driveway if it does not exceed typical vehicle dimensions. Larger box trucks, dump trucks, or semi-trailers cannot be stored in residential zones without a permitted home occupation or agricultural use. Commercial vehicles must not idle for more than 5 minutes except for specific exemptions under Puget Sound Clean Air Agency rules. Illegal storage complaints go to Code Compliance at (425) 452-4570.
