Bergen County, NJ Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Article III, Section (f), Commercial Vehicles, of the Bergen County Parks System Rules and Regulations bars any person from operating a motor truck, bus, or other commercial vehicle on or within park premises without prior written permission from the County. The section is narrowly written: it does not reach a passenger car simply because it bears commercial license plates or identification, so long as the car is not being used for a commercial purpose while on park property, and it carves out vans and pick-up trucks with a maximum load capacity of one ton, meaning ordinary contractor pickups and cargo vans can still use park roads and lots like any other vehicle.

The same exception structure repeats almost word for word in Article III, Section (z)(4), which additionally prohibits using a motor vehicle in the park for commercial purposes such as soliciting fares, vending, advertising, demonstrating, or instructing, even if the vehicle itself would otherwise qualify for an exemption.
