Bergen County itself does not impose a general RV or boat parking rule on streets. Each of the 70 municipalities sets its own ordinance, and county parks prohibit overnight RV or trailer storage under the Parks System Rules.
Recreational vehicle, camper, and boat trailer parking in Bergen County is regulated primarily at the municipal level rather than countywide. Each municipality (Hackensack, Paramus, Fort Lee, Teaneck, etc.) adopts its own zoning and parking ordinance limiting where, how long, and on what surface an RV or boat may be kept. On county-owned property, the Bergen County Department of Parks Rules and Regulations prohibit overnight parking, camping, and storage of trailers or RVs in county park lots. State law N.J.S.A. 39:4-56.5 also treats vehicles left on roads more than 48 hours as presumptively abandoned.
Tickets, towing, and impoundment by the local municipality or Bergen County Police; storage fees may accrue while the vehicle is impounded.
