In residential zoning districts, heavy commercial vehicles are barred, but one commercial van or trailer may be kept if it meets the same setback and screening rules that apply to RVs.
The Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance (Sec. 40-661) restricts commercial vehicles in residential districts. Heavy commercial vehicles are prohibited from being parked or stored on residentially-zoned lots. A single commercial van or commercial trailer is allowed, provided that a van or trailer over seven feet tall meets the recreational-vehicle setback and screening requirements: five feet from side or rear lot lines and screened by a six-foot opaque or living fence. Larger trucks, tractors and trailers must be kept in commercially or industrially zoned areas. Incorporated cities apply their own commercial-vehicle limits.
Enforced by the Department of Inspection and Code Enforcement through zoning-violation notices and administrative adjudication, with corrective orders and fines.
