Lynwood uses standard California curb colors, red for no stopping, yellow for commercial loading, white for passenger loading, green for short-term, and blue for disabled parking.
Lynwood Municipal Code 7-20.4 authorizes the city traffic engineer to paint curbs and defines their meaning. Red means no stopping, standing or parking at any time, except buses at a marked bus zone. Yellow means no parking 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (except Sundays and holidays) other than 3-minute passenger or 20-minute material loading. White means no parking except 3-minute passenger loading or mail deposit. Green means no parking longer than 20 minutes between 7:00 A.M. and 10:00 P.M. except Sundays and holidays. The city also recognizes blue curbs for disabled-permit parking, consistent with the California Vehicle Code. Only the city may paint regulatory curb markings; private curb painting is not authorized.
Parking against a legible colored curb in violation of its meaning is a citation. The city red curb fine is $64. Fire hydrant zones carry a $69 fine, and disabled (blue) zone violations run $384.
