Lynwood, CA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Lynwood Municipal Code § 7-20.6 authorizes the city traffic engineer to mark loading zones and passenger loading zones anywhere in a business district, or elsewhere in front of a business entrance or an assembly hall, but caps total loading-zone curb length at half of any block's curb. Loading zones get a yellow paint line stenciled "LOADING ONLY"; passenger loading zones get a white line stenciled "PASSENGER LOADING ONLY," both on the top of the curb. Under § 7-20.4(2), a yellow zone bars stopping, standing, or parking between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day but Sunday or a holiday, for any purpose except loading or unloading, and § 7-20.5(a) limits that privilege to commercial vehicles making commercial deliveries or handling U.S. mail or express packages, for no more than 20 minutes.

Passenger loading in a white zone is capped at 3 minutes under § 7-20.4(3), with narrower carve-outs: the restriction runs around the clock in front of a mailbox, and only while a theater is open in front of a theater. Section 7-20.5(d) separately bars parking in a yellow zone for anything but its permitted loading purpose for longer than that permitted time. The city traffic engineer administers zone placement, and enforcement runs through the Lynwood parking enforcement division and the contract Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

A violation of these stopping-and-parking rules is a misdemeanor or infraction under Vehicle Code § 40000, per Lynwood Municipal Code § 7-26, and vehicles parked in violation for over 72 hours can also be towed under § 7-20.20.
