Lynwood requires residential driveways at least 20 feet long, limits lots to two driveways, mandates paved surfaces, and bars parking on unpaved yard areas.
Under Lynwood Municipal Code Chapter 25 (Zoning), Article 65, section 25-65-7, driveways for single-family or duplex units in any zone must be at least 20 feet long, measured from the sidewalk to the front of the garage door. Driveways are limited to one per 50 feet of lot frontage, not to exceed two; a curved driveway with two entrances counts as one. Section 25-65-8 requires all parking spaces and driveways to be paved with concrete or asphalt, and parking on unpaved areas is prohibited in all residential and commercial zones. Within a required front yard, vehicles may park only in a defined space and may not extend past the front right-of-way line.
Parking on unpaved yard areas, exceeding two driveways per lot, or building a non-conforming driveway violates the zoning code and can trigger code-enforcement action. Blocking a sidewalk with a vehicle carries a $64 city fine.
