Inglewood, CA Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

Section 12-52 of the Inglewood Municipal Code, in Article 19 (Parking Regulations), governs every residential driveway in the city. Subsection (A) requires all residential driveways to be paved with Portland cement concrete, closing off gravel, dirt, or lawn as legal parking surfaces. Subsection (B) requires a driveway to provide 'direct vehicular access to a garage or enclosed parking facility' and to sit on the same lot as the parking spaces it serves; where a property has more than one driveway, they must be at least seventy feet apart along a front or street-side lot line.

Subsection (C) sets minimum and maximum widths: a single, one-way driveway must be at least ten feet and no more than twelve feet wide, while a double, two-way driveway must run eighteen to twenty-two feet wide (sixteen feet is allowed for a driveway serving only a two-car garage). Subsection (B)(4) allows a circular driveway in a front or street-side yard only on lots with at least a thirty-foot building setback and one-hundred-foot street frontage, and only as a single-width driveway whose two curb cuts are at least seventy-five feet apart and which is the sole access to the garage.

Subsection (D) limits properties with four or fewer units to one driveway, single or double, per lot; larger developments scale up the required driveway count with the number of parking spaces served, from one driveway under ten spaces to at least two double driveways above eighty spaces. Alley access is unrestricted in number. These standards, adopted by Ord. 87-3 in 1987 and amended by Ord. 88-7 in 1988, are enforced by the Planning and Building Department through the site plan review and building permit process.
