5. Cause or allow any vehicle registered in the name of or operated by such person to stop, stand, or park a motor vehicle adjacent to a curb painted red except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a peace officer. Full Breakdown

Section 10.20.060(4) of Sioux City's traffic code bars parking a vehicle on the public right-of-way against a curb painted yellow, with narrow exceptions for avoiding a traffic conflict or following a peace officer's direction. It's one of several curb-marking rules in the same section: yellow curbs draw this standard parking violation, while red curbs (subsection 5) carry a mandatory tow. The rule applies citywide to any vehicle registered to or operated by the person parking it, enforced through the same fine schedule as other city parking tickets.

Violations & Fines

A standard parking violation: $50 if paid within 30 days, $55 after 30 days, $70 after 90 days, under City Code § 10.24.030(2)(c); the registered owner is liable.
