Flower Mound Sec. 66-174 requires all vehicles to be parked on an improved surface such as concrete, asphalt, or pave stone. Parking on grass, dirt, or unimproved surfaces is prohibited in residential districts. Vehicles must not obstruct the public right-of-way, including sidewalks and streets.
Under Sec. 66-174 of the Flower Mound Code of Ordinances, no vehicle of any type may be parked on grass or unimproved surfaces in a residential district. All parking must occur on a driveway or other improved surface made of concrete, asphalt, or pave stone. Vehicles parked in driveways must not extend into or obstruct the public right-of-way, which includes sidewalks and streets. Driveway construction and widening require a permit from the Building Inspections Division at (972) 874-6355. New driveways must meet minimum width standards and drainage requirements under Ch. 82 Development Standards. The town prohibits adding gravel, crushed stone, or other loose material as a permanent parking surface in residential areas. Many HOAs in Flower Mound impose additional driveway rules, including limits on the number of vehicles visible from the street and requirements for garage parking of daily-use vehicles.
Code enforcement notice with cure period. Fines up to $500 per day for continued violation. Unauthorized driveway expansion may require removal at owner expense.
