Little Elm requires vehicles on improved surfaces only. Parking on grass or dirt in front yards is prohibited. Driveway construction and widening require a building permit under Ch. 106.
Little Elm municipal code prohibits parking vehicles on unimproved surfaces in residential areas. All vehicles must be parked on paved driveways, garage floors, or other approved hard surfaces. Parking on grass, dirt, or gravel in front or side yards visible from the street is a code violation. Driveway extensions or widening require a building permit and must meet Chapter 106 Zoning standards for impervious cover limits in the applicable zoning district. New driveway construction must use concrete or approved paving materials and connect to the public right-of-way with a proper curb cut approved by Public Works. Vehicles parked in driveways must not block sidewalks or extend into the public right-of-way. In Little Elms newer subdivisions with narrower lots, driveway parking capacity is limited, which contributes to street parking demand. HOAs may regulate the number of vehicles allowed in driveways and prohibit commercial vehicles from driveway storage.
Parking on unimproved surface: code enforcement notice with correction deadline. Repeat violations: up to $500 fine. Unpermitted driveway construction: removal at owner expense.
