Little Elm requires RVs, boats, and trailers behind the front building line. Temporary driveway loading allowed for 48 hours. HOAs in newer lakeside subdivisions often add screening rules.
Little Elm Code Chapter 106 Zoning regulates the storage of recreational vehicles, boats, travel trailers, and utility trailers on residential property. All such vehicles and watercraft must be stored behind the front building line, meaning they cannot be parked in front yards or forward of the house facade. Given Little Elms position along Lewisville Lake, boat and personal watercraft ownership is exceptionally common, making this a frequently enforced provision. Temporary loading, unloading, and preparation for trips is allowed on driveways for up to 48 hours. Vehicles must be in operable condition and currently registered. Inoperable or unregistered RVs and boats must be stored in enclosed garages or removed from the property. Many of Little Elms newer master-planned community HOAs impose additional restrictions including requiring RV and boat storage behind privacy fences, in side yards only, or prohibiting outdoor storage entirely. RVs cannot be occupied as living quarters on residential property.
Code enforcement notice with deadline to comply. Repeat violations: up to $500 fine per day. HOA violations handled through association enforcement.
