Flower Mound Sec. 66-174 restricts RV, boat, and trailer parking in residential districts. Vehicles exceeding 8.5 feet wide, 14 feet high, or 36 feet long may not be parked or stored on residential property or the public right-of-way. Vehicles must be on an improved surface and screened from public view.
Section 66-174 of the Flower Mound Code of Ordinances governs parking in residential districts and sets strict rules for recreational vehicles, boats, watercraft, and trailers. No such vehicle may be stored in a residential district if it exceeds 8.5 feet in width, 14 feet in height, or 36 feet in length. Vehicles, trailers, and RVs may be parked on a driveway or other improved surface (concrete, asphalt, or pave stone) but must not obstruct the public right-of-way, including sidewalks and streets. Parking on grass or unimproved surfaces is prohibited. RVs and boats stored on the property must be behind the front building line and screened from ordinary public view by a fence, rapidly growing trees, or shrubbery. A tarp, car blanket, or similar covering does not satisfy screening requirements. Temporary loading and unloading of RVs is allowed for 48 hours. Most Flower Mound master-planned communities (Bridlewood, Wellington, Canyon Falls, Tour 18) have HOA deed restrictions that impose additional requirements, often requiring fully enclosed storage or off-site RV storage facilities near Grapevine Lake.
Code notice with 10-day cure period. Non-compliance: $200 to $500 per day. Repeated violations may result in municipal court citation.
