In unincorporated Larimer County urban districts and growth management areas, single-family and duplex driveways must be paved from the road edge to the right-of-way line. Off-street parking must not require backing into the road, and vehicles should not block sidewalks or the right-of-way.
The Larimer County Land Use Code off-street parking standards require single-family detached and duplex dwellings in the Urban districts and Growth Management Areas to surface parking and loading access areas with asphalt, concrete or similar material from the edge of the roadway to the right-of-way line. Parking areas must have defined ingress and egress and may not be laid out so a vehicle backs directly into the roadway. In more rural county zoning districts, paving is required only where needed for ADA compliance or short-term rentals. In Fort Collins, driveway aprons and access are governed by city land use and engineering standards.
Non-conforming driveway surfacing or access is corrected through Larimer County land use code compliance during permitting or on complaint.
