Lewis County, WA Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

220 is the vehicle parking chapter for Lewis County's Small Town Urban Growth Areas at Packwood and Onalaska. Its stated purpose is to make sure new development supplies enough off-street parking to keep congestion off Highway 12 and State Route 508, and subsection (3) lists the design standards every project with a parking requirement must meet, including stall counts from Table 4, dimensions from Table 5, and aisle widths from Table 6. Within that same list of standards, subsection (3)(i) requires that electrical vehicle charging space be provided in accordance with WAC 51-50-0429, the state building code's electric vehicle charging infrastructure standard, rather than setting its own local stall count or amperage requirement.

Because the requirement is folded into the general parking standards, it applies to the same commercial, industrial, multifamily and mixed-use projects that trigger Table 4's minimum parking counts, and it is reviewed alongside those counts at building permit and site plan stage. The chapter separately bars any new parking, including EV parking, from being sited within the front setback along Highway 12 or State Route 508, and it grandfathers parking that existed before January 1, 2026, while barring that legacy parking from being expanded in a way that increases its nonconformity.
