Kenosha County, WI Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

020 of the county's General Zoning and Shoreland/Floodplain Zoning Ordinance sets the loading standard for towns that have adopted county zoning; it does not reach the City of Kenosha, the City of Lake Geneva, or an incorporated village, each of which administers its own zoning code. Under subsection (b), the trigger is a gross floor area of 6,000 square feet or more combined with deliveries or shipments; smaller uses owe nothing under this section. Subsection (d) fixes minimum vertical clearance at 14 feet and ties berth width, apron space, and total offset to the design vehicle and dock angle, from a WB-40 tractor-trailer at a 90-degree dock (10-foot berth, 63-foot apron, 113-foot total offset) down to a 45-degree approach.

Subsection (l) sets the space count: one 10-by-25-foot berth for every 3,000 square feet of business floor area, and one 10-by-50-foot berth for every 10,000 square feet of wholesale or industrial floor area, with bus and truck terminals sized to their peak vehicle count. 8-1 exterior lighting standard (subsection h), and screened from public view with walls, fences, berms, or landscaping subject to Department of Planning and Development review (subsection j). Every proposed berth has to be shown on the site plan filed for the development (subsection k), and backing movements into a public right-of-way are barred outright (subsection e).
