Designated loading zones in New Orleans are for active loading and unloading only. Parking a passenger car in a loading, service or no-parking zone, bus stop or cab stand is about a $40 fine and towable under Sec. 154-868 to 154-875.
New Orleans establishes commercial and passenger loading zones under Ch. 154 (Sec. 154-868 through 154-872, plus service zones under Sec. 154-875). Vehicles may stop in a loading zone only long enough to load or unload; general parking there is prohibited. The city can designate, sign and enforce these zones, along with bus stops, cab stands and fire lanes, and parking in any of them is treated as a no-sign-required violation and a towable offense. In the French Quarter especially, loading zones are heavily enforced alongside street-cleaning tows.
Parking in a loading zone, service zone, no-parking zone, bus stop or cab stand is about $40 and towable (Sec. 154-868 to 875; 154-923). Fines double every 30 days unpaid.
